Yangwang U9 Electric Supercar to Debut at Shanghai Auto Show

The U9 model from BYD’s luxury brand, Yangwang, will be introduced at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 18.

On its Weibo account, Yangwang shared some images of the high-performance electric vehicle. The U9 was first revealed on January 5 this year, making a significant impression. It was later spotted on the streets of China.

The latest images reveal some changes in the exterior design. The side skirts have been enlarged, with a notable addition of a large rear spoiler. Additionally, the headlight design—once a subject of much debate when it was first unveiled—has been refined. At the rear, there is a matrix LED tail light and a large diffuser.

The Yangwang U9 is developed on BYD’s new Yisifang electric vehicle platform. It is equipped with a setup of four electric motors that deliver a combined power of 1,100 horsepower and 1,280 Nm of torque. Each electric motor provides 275 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque.

BYD has stated that the U9 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2 seconds—faster than some of the world’s top supercars today, such as the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport (2.4 seconds) or the Ferrari SF90 Stradale (2.5 seconds).

The U9 is equipped with BYD’s latest Blade battery pack, offering at least 100 kWh and a range of approximately 700 km on a single charge, according to China’s CLTC standards.

The Yangwang U9 will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show, which runs from April 18 to 27. The electric supercar will be available for sale in China later this year, with a starting price of around $150,000.
